Zdravo! (Hello from Macedonia)

Weel, we've finally arrived in Macedonia after a short stop in Slovenia. We flew into Alexander the Great airport in Macedonia's capital, Skopje. Parts of the city actually resemble Cuba. The people are very friendly and generally it's pretty clean.

We went on a tour of Skopje today with our translator Milan. We visited the Kale Fortress and walked around the city for 3hrs. Did you know that Mother Theresa was from Skopje, Macedonia? Neither did most of us. We actually got to visit the site where her house was as well as a museum dedicated to her and her life. (The picture of the baby blue building is the museum) After that stopped for lunch downtown at a beautiful restaurant. The food is great... HUGE portions but really good. We've decided to share meals from here on out as a result. Food and drinks are cheap here. A bottle of good wine is about 200 denar... sounds like alot but works out to be about $3 Canadian and most meals are about the same price!

Sorry for the short blog but there are other people waiting to use the computer. We will try to post some pictures. Tomorrow is our first day on the worksite... should be interesting! Say tuned.
